Xiaozhuo completed his bachelor degree in Chinese Literature in 2011 and a Master in International Studies in 2012. In September 2013, he started PhD research at the University of Edinburgh.
Xiaozhuo's research interest is focuses on East Asian international relations, involving China, Japan and Korea, ranging from 17th century to 20th century. His current research is a detailed investigation of ideological exchange and mutual influence between Zhu Shunshui and the Mito school in the 17th century.
