Beth Noble is a current MSc by research student in Japanese studies. She completed her undergraduate MA in Japanese studies (first class honours) at the University of Edinburgh in June 2016. During this time she also spent a year studying at Hokkaido University in Sapporo, Japan on the Japanese Language and Culture Studies Programme (JLCSP).
Beth's research focuses on the relationship between art and politics in postwar Japan. She is currently researching the Yomiuri Indépendant exhibition (1949-1963) and the use of space for artistic explorations of democracy in early postwar Japan.
Beth is the holder of a Sasakawa Japanese Studies Postgraduate Studentship.
